As per the recent estimates of ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents), an overwhelming 2.1 million people are likely to travel abroad over this bank holiday weekend.
Vacationers are being urged to leave aside a good deal of time to travel till their departure.
Airports all across the nation expect to be very busy over the August bank holiday weekend. Heathrow Airport has reported that 243,000 people would be flying out on Friday alone.
Gatwick expects that as much as 304,000 holidaymakers would be flying out over the next weekend and 174,000 people would be departing from Stansted.
Bristol airport expects to welcome 55,000 tourists to fly out. About 90,000 would be departing from Edinburgh, 95,000 from Birmingham, 36,000 from East Midlands and 210,000 from Manchester. Ports and Channel Tunnel are also expected to be quite busy over the weekend.
Eurostar anticipates that over 64,000 departures from the UK across the next four days would be travelling, and Paris and South of France continue to be the best favorites of British holidaymakers.
Spain also is a favored destination for British vacationers according to ABTA.
The Canary Islands, Balearics and Southern Spain, too are in high demand as favorable travel locales. Other popular destinations that Greece and Turkey with Crete being a great choice. Morocco and Florida, on the other hand, have also sold quite well.
Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin are the top-haul destinations along with long-haul city breaks to Los Angeles and New York.
Cotswolds, the West Country and The Norfolk Broads are the leading picks for domestic breaks.
Mark Tanzer who is the chief executive of ABTA mentioned that this weekend always represents one of the busiest time in terms of travel and is actually the last week of the peak summer season.
As much as 70,000 passengers are expected to pass through Liverpool John Lennon airport over the long weekend marking a rise of 5% year-on-year and the busiest August bank holiday period since the year 2011.
