LONDON—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed the Hotel Indigo London - One Leicester Square, marking IHG’s arrival in Leicester Sq. and Hotel Indigo’s growth as its adds a fourth property in London and eleventh in the U.K.
Due to open in late 2017, the hotel will have 95 guestrooms, each with a design reflecting the local area. Amenities will include a destination rooftop bar, restaurant, gym and working spaces. The design will be influenced by the existing property’s Art Deco styling and the nearby entertainment and cultural districts.
It will operate under a franchise agreement with Criterion Capital and will be the operator’s first venture with the franchise partner. There are currently 21 Hotel Indigo hotels open and 18 in the pipeline across Europe.
“London is a core driver of demand within the U.K. The increase in international in-bound travel to London is driving a need for new hotels and giving us the opportunity to grow our portfolio,” said Andrew Shaw, associate VP of development UK&I, IHG. “Hotel Indigo London – One Leicester Square will be a valuable addition to the brand in a globally recognized London location.”
