Indonesia’s national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia would soon take over few Qatar Airways passengers who have taken the Jakarta-Saudi Arabia flight route.
To quote Pahala N Mansyuri, President and CEO of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, while talking to Antara on Thursday, ‘we have cooperation with Qatar Airways that some passengers, who would fly from Jakarta to Saudi Arabia, would be transferred to Garuda Indonesias flight.’ He further explained that Antara here on Garuda would seize the chance to promote its possible hajj pilgrimage route.
It has been further said that only 45 passengers from Jakarta to Saudi Arabia would be carried in its first transfer followed by 150 passengers in its next flight.
Beforehand, Budi Karya Sumadi, Transportation Minister stated that he would temporarily cancel Qatar Airways license. He had also said that he would transfer its passengers to other airline. It would be followed by severing ties between some Arab countries and Qatar resulting in the conclusion of flights from and to Qatar.
To quote Sumadi, ‘we are saddened by the decision, but we have to provide substitution for the passengers. We have a solution for this. Some passengers from Jakarta, especially hajj pilgrims, would be transferred to Garuda Indonesia and Saudi Arabian Airlines.’ Qatar Airways flights from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia would be transferred to Garuda, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Turkish Airlines respectively. “Regarding foreign tourists, I agree with the tourism minister. There are many tourists who want to visit Indonesia. I am not saying that we do not need Qatar Airways, but there are many substitutions for air accessibility,”
