Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS)1 transported 3,661,126 passengers in the first three months of 2017, a 4.7% increase on the same period last year. A total of 33,197 flights were operated during the period, 3.0% fewer than in the first quarter of 2016.
Systemwide capacity was increased 5.3% in the first quarter of 2017 in available seat-kilometre (ASK) terms. Total traffic volume, measured in revenue passenger-kilometres (RPKs), was raised 7.7%. Systemwide seat load factor for the period improved accordingly, rising 1.7 percentage points to 77.6%.
For March 2017 SWISS carried 1,340,259 passengers, an increase of 3.7% on the same month last year. A total of 11,691 flights were operated, 2.1% fewer than in March 2016. ASK capacity for the month was raised 6.3%, while RPK traffic volume was up 7.8%. Systemwide seat load factor amounted to 78.7%, an improvement of 1.1 percentage points.
