However, they have mentioned that they would be devoid of the applications popularized by Westworld. It is believed that they would be enacting the Disney characters. But then, it is yet to be known as to what kind of characters would be implemented by the bots.
The company revealed that they robots would be designed in a way such that they move about and interact like animated characters.
And, this parent application also states that the scientists of Disney in Pittsburgh have worked on certain prototypes that have been dubbed as ‘soft body 300’ and ‘soft body 1000’. The inventors of this soft body are Katsu Yamane, Joohyung Kim, Alexander Aplspach from Disney Research Pittsburgh who have been working on soft-body prototypes since the year 2014.
The patent application also reveals that the body of the robot would be made of pliable chambers that would be filled with air or a certain type of fluid.
And, the robot would be able to sense the pressure inside each of its chambers in response to a hug of a child or even an accidental collision with a guest. The outer shapes of the robot would be a cylinder with a round end, a cylinder and also a donut shape.
The utilization of such robots would play a crucial role in minimizing labor costs and the amount of humans that are hired the play Disney characters at each theme park.
