President Donald Trump is supposed to sign an updated travel ban after a federal appeals court blocked his earlier order.
Trump was scheduled to sign the order last week but pushed it back after his joint address to Congress on February 28 received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
According to the U.S. news reports, Iraq would no longer be a part of the list of Muslim-majority countries affected by a temporary ban on immigration and resettlement of refugees. The original order was signed on January 27 and covered countries such as Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Iraq.
Following the ban, there was tremendous chaos in airports around the world. There was confusion among the immigration officials to figure out if it also affected travellers with green cards and pre-approved visas.
Questioning its constitutional feature, an appeal was upheld in the court. However, the administration argued the president has the authority to protect the U.S. from potential terrorism.
The White House is still challenging the appeals court ruling although the President is planning to make an amended executive order.
