Three hot air balloons crashed in Turkey, injuring at least 49 tourists, mostly international ones. Thereafter, the balloons were all compelled to make hard landings against strong winds in central Turkey, as per the country’s state-run news agency.
The balloons were carrying a majority of Chinese and European tourists.
They were riding over the Cappadocia region in Turkey when the winds suddenly picked up and forced a few of them to go for emergency landings, as per the news agency. Nine of the 49 people who were hurt in the incident were being provided medical treatment for fractured bones.
On the other hand, the remaining people had minor injuries and were quickly released from the hospital.
Cappadocia is well known for its several volcanic rock formations and underground cities. Last month, a hot air-balloon had made a similar hard landing when a Danish tourist was killed in Cappadocia.
The pilot of one of the balloons said that the plane had a hard landing close to Sofular Village in Urgup District and it is here that the balloons drifted out of control.
He said that the landing was not on account of any pilotage error and they call it ‘air bombing’.
