Carnival Corporation has announced that they’ve completed the installation and certification of Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems on a total of 60 ships across their brands.  The company is on track to develop and deploy the systems on over 85 vessels through 2020 – greatly improving the quality of air emissions from their ships and lessening their environmental footprint.

Announced in 2013, the company broke new ground in engineering a technology to function in the confined spaces of a cruise ship to reduce sulfur compounds and particulate matter from a ship’s engine exhaust at any operating state: at sea, during maneuvering, and in port.  It enables the company to meet international regulations and mitigate costs for low-sulfur fuel while furthering their sustainability goals.

The systems are currently installed and certified on 17 Carnival Cruise Line ships, 13 Holland America vessels, 10 Princess Cruises ships, 7 Costa ships, five AIDA Cruises vessels, 4 P&O Cruises UK ships, 3 Cunard vessels, and 1 P&O Cruises Australia ship.
The installation schedule for the remaining cruise ships will be announced in the future.
