The strikes in France by air traffic controllers forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights to and from the European nation.
The air traffic controllers from the UNSA union who also got included in the strike have caused delays and cancellations at major airports such as Bordeaux–Merignac Airport, Brest Bretagne Airport, Aerodrome d’Aix en Provence, Marseille Provence Airport and Nice Cote d’Azur International Airport according to Radio France Internationale.
The four-day strike by air traffic controllers started on the beginning of this week.
The aviation authorities in France said an estimated 25 percent of flights to, from or over the southern region of the country have been impacted for the strike, in total. The Western portion of the nation saw an impact of about 33 percent.
FlightAware.com showed that there were over 250 flights cancelled on Tuesday and around 375 flights cancelled Monday. EasyJet, Ryanair and Air France are some of the airlines to name who all were forced to cancel many flights due to the strike.
In addition to the strikes by air traffic controllers, employees at Air France also hit the picket line with the issue over executive pay however; this additional strike did not cause more delays or cancellations.
Air France reported only being able to operate 74 percent of domestic flights from Paris Orly Airport and other regional airports. About 94 percent of the national carrier’s flights from Charles de Gaulle Airport ran as scheduled.
