Since 1 January 2017, George Karageorgiou is the new president and CEO of Olympic Shipping
and Management S.A
Mr.Karageorgiou began
his career in business and shipping at Kassos
Maritime (1990). He then worked for Stelmar
Shipping Limited (established in 1992), where he held various executive
positions, and was also a member of the Board of Directors.
During his time
at Stelmar,Karageorgiouwas also a founding member and Executive Director of the
company easyGroup Ltd (1995-2005),
while he also was director of several of its subsidiary companies. He was a
co-founder of the Greek shipping company Globus
Maritime Limited (2006-2016). He was also General Director, and in 2011 he
became President of its Board of Directors.
Karageorgiou holds
a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also did post-graduate studies in Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, and
in Shipping Trade and Finance at City University Business School.
In this new era
for Olympic Shipping and Management S.A. Karageorgiou succeeds Giannis P.
Ioannidis, whom the Board of Directors would like to thank profoundly for his
valuable services over many years.

Directly responsible to set, present
to the Board and execute the company’s business strategy, for vessel acquisitions
& disposals, chartering, finance (bank & capital markets), insurance, risk
management, quality & safety, performance monitoring and benchmarking, modeling
and reporting (to the Board and the US SEC), liaising with the auditors and
overlooking the Company’s technical and operations managers.

Founding member and Executive Director
of the holding company as well as Director / executive of /in various other group
subsidiaries, including easyJet Holdings Ltd, easyInternetcafe Ltd, easyRentacar

product tankers company.
Founding member and Director from inception
to May 1998 and from October 2001 to 2004. Company Secretary from May 1998-
January 2002 (during the IPO period). Led the formation of the Company in 1992,
obtained the first global ISO 2001 certificate in shipping in 1993 and led the
Company’s efforts to become paperless in 1998. Held various executive positions
overlooking strategic planning, expansion strategies, financial modeling, recruitment
of staff, vessel acquisitions & disposals, commercial operations, bank financings,
newbuilding contracting, liaising with the auditors, capital markets activities
(investor roadshows and relations, IPO, follow-on offerings). Participated in
the formation of the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association,
represented the Company in various industry forums (Intertanko) and was
instrumental in Stelmar’s sale to OSG.
1990 – 1992 KASSOS MARITIME ENTERPRISES
Private ship
management company of the Kouloukoundis family.
Superintendent engineer / project
manager responsible for the extensive refit of 4 dry cargo Panamax vessels and
the submission of a business proposal for an international ferry company to the
European Commission.
1989 – 1990 HELLENIC NAVY (mandatory military service)
Junior
Officer.
Served as supervising engineer / liaison
officer between the Hellenic Navy, Danyard A/S and Hellenic Shipyards in the construction,
and delivery of two 55m Osprey type patrol boats and one tanker vessel to the
Hellenic Navy.
Mr. Karageorgiou is currently a member of the DNV
GL Greek National Committee and RINA Hellenic Advisory Committee
