This February, five foreign cruise vessels have already docked in Komodo Island that is located in the country of Indonesia. The fascinating creatures of this unique destination have been the motivating factor behind increasing the cruise ship arrivals.
On Saturday, Cruise Eropa II had ushered in 2,000 foreign tourists to the island.
As many as 230 of them had arrived in Loh Liang in Komodo district, that is a portion of the Komodo National Park. The following day, two more cruise ships were docked at the site that was also carrying thousands of travellers.
More than 650 Japanese tourists from MS Asuka had wandered through Loh Liang.
Also, a large number of tourists from Cruise Eropa along with a park ranger and a local guide had made its way to this exotic island. The agency of the park told the media that in the next few months, two more cruise ships were scheduled to visit Loh Liang to witness the komodo dragons and also travel to Pink Beach to enjoy snorkeling and diving.
These activities are among the popular activities in the island that appeal to the domestic and foreign tourists.
Usman Husin, the unit office head of Labuan Bajo Port administration state that 113 foreign boats and cruise vessels had visited Komodo Island throughout 2016. This had brought about 53,562 foreign visitors to Loh Liang.
Apart from this, the island also welcomed about 310 tourism and phinisi boats that were owned by travel agents in West Manggarai outside the region.
During the low season, 20 tourism boats operate regularly in the region.
About up to 30 boats that are used to entertain domestic and foreign travellers can be found around the island during the high season between April and October, feels Usman. He further specified that a marina is about to be created in Labuan Bajo in order to meet the high demand since presently the cruise ships would dock only at Komodo Island.
