Ει βούλει καλώς ακούειν, μάθε καλώς λέγειν, μαθών δε καλώς λέγειν, πειρώ καλώς πράττειν, και ούτω καρπώση το καλώς ακούειν. (Επίκτητος)

China has emerged to be the fastest growing tourism market for Australia over the last 40 years. In fact, it has been able to surpass New Zealand as the biggest source country for tourists.

Nearly 1.3 million tourists from New Zealand and 1.2 million Chinese travellers had arrived in Australia for short-term stays that would not be less than three months in 2016, as per the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

China set a record thanks to its 1.2 million tourists who visited Australia, proving that the rate of tourists travelling to this region has been accelerating since the year 1976. During this time, just 500 Chinese tourists had visited Australia.

The two largest tourism nations comprised about 19% of the total of 11.530 people. They had all settled down in Australia in 2016. And, there were 830 settlers from New Zealand last year and 1390 from China. The largest group was represented by 2720 people who had resided in Australia from Central and Southern Asia, especially India.

Coming at a close second were 2560 settlers who had arrived from North Africa and Middle East.

Cameron Kusher, who is the analyst of CoreLogic Research said that there had been quite a notable shift in the settlers in Australia. Kusher said in a certain statement that there was a steep decline in settlers from Antarctica and Oceanic of late and an increase in settlers from Middle East and North Africa since the last year.
