Following the atrocious terror attack to Reina nightclub in Istanbul on New Year’s Eve, all members of the Tourism Restaurant Investors and Managers Association (TURYID) conducted a “silent march” to Ortaköy, where Reina is located, starting from Kuruçeşme.
"We believe that our people will defend their daily life habits, and that our tables will again be set around friendship and joy; we also believe that our guests, friends from all around the world who prefer our brands, will likewise sustain their own lifestyles. As well, professionals within our industry, who we consider a motivating force standing behind us, will continue their visits, maintain their social and business lives, and inspire others to do the same. As a result of it, together we will achieve better days. It is the time to come together. It is today that we should communicate the message to the world that we are one and together”, said Kaya Demirer, the President of TURYİD.
In solidarity with victims of the attack on Reina, the Tourism Restaurant Investors and Managers Association (TURYİD), marched from Kuruçeşme to Ortaköy in silence on January 3. The attack took place within the first moments of the New Year, leaving 39 people dead and 65 people injured.
"We Will Continue Offering Turkish Hospitality to the Entire World"
Stating that the members of TURYİD deplore discrimination based on any language, religion and race, and that they reject polarization and any act that targets daily life habits, Kaya Demirer said "With more than 600,000 employees and an annual guest record of over 35 million individuals, we will continue to live our lives, motivate others to do the same, and continue to offer our renowned Turkish hospitality to the whole world. We extend our condolences to the grieving families of our guests and colleagues who lost their lives during this nefarious attack, and we wish a quick recovery for all those who were injured. As the members of the association, we firmly state that, for our future, we will not lose heart.”

Turkish Hotels Association (TUROB), All Restaurants, Diners and Suppliers Association (TURES), United Brands Association (BMD), Category Retailers Association (KMD)
The representatives of the sector placed cloves at the entrance to Reina, in memory of those who lost their lives, and departed in silence.
