Carnival is testing a new cabin key distribution system in which keys are placed in a sealed envelope in the mailbox outside of the guest’s stateroom door, designed to streamline the embarkation process. Staterooms remain locked until the guest enters the cabin.
How it Works?
Boarding generally starts around 12:30 p.m. and guests may access their staterooms at 1:30 p.m. Members of the line’s Diamond/Platinum VIFP loyalty program or those guests who have purchased the line’s Faster to the Fun program may access their stateroom as soon as they board the vessel.
For guests that don’t have immediate access to their stateroom, they can use their stateroom number and name to make purchases onboard

If these pilot programs are successful, Carnival will move to more ships in 2017. So far the program has gotten great response from guests.
