U.S. - International Air Passenger Traffic up 6%, China to U.S. up 10%

U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO)  announced that international air traffic to/from the U.S. totaled 128.96 million passengers through July 2016, a six percent increase over the July 2015 year-to-date period.
U.S. citizen travel (61.1 million) was up nine percent and composed 47 percent of all air traffic. Non-U.S. citizen air travelers (67.8 million) increased by three percent with their market share at 53 percent.
U.S. airlines carried 64.0 million passengers, up three percent, with their share under 50 percent. Foreign flags carried 65.0 million passengers, up nine percent from the same period 2015.

The following, overseas, Canada and Mexico regions are ‘breakouts’ of international:
Overseas air traffic accounted for 94.7 million passengers, 73 percent of all international, and grew by six percent.
U.S. citizen travel (44.0 million) was up seven percent composing almost 47 percent of overseas air traffic. Non-U.S. citizen air travelers (50.7 million) were up by six percent with market share at almost 54 percent.
U.S. airlines carried 44.9 million passengers, up three percent, their share dropping to 47 percent. Foreign flags carried 49.8 million passengers, up 10 percent from July 2015 YTD.

Estimated capacity (414,899 seats) on non-stop flights from PRC was up 9.3 percent year-over-year not pacing overall inbound passenger growth of 11.2 percent.
Chinese carriers increased weekly frequencies from 165 to 185, up 12 percent.
U.S. carriers increased weekly frequencies from 136 to 140, up three percent.
North American markets accounted for 27 percent of U.S. international air traffic flows.
Mexico air traffic accounted for 17.3 million passengers, 13 percent of all international traffic, and was up nine percent.
U.S. citizen travel (11.8 million) increased 13 percent and composed 68 percent of air traffic. Mexicans, and other foreign national air travelers (5.5 million) transiting through Mexico, was flat, with market share at 32 percent.
U.S. flags carried 12.7 million passengers, up nine percent from last year, but their share remained unchanged at 73 percent. Foreign flags carried 4.6 million passengers, up 10 percent.

Canadian air traffic accounted for 16.97 million passengers, 13 percent of all international traffic, and increased by one percent.
U.S. citizen travel (5.3 million) increased 14 percent and composed 32 percent of air traffic.
Canadian, and other foreign national citizen air travelers transiting through Canada (11.6 million), declined almost four percent. Market share slipped to 69 percent.
U.S. flags carried 6.4 million passengers, down six percent from last year, and their share dropped to 38 percent. Foreign flags carried 10.6 million passengers, up six percent.
