Condor took off from Munich to Tobago and as a direct flight onto Barbados for the first time on Saturday. The charter carrier is serving the two islands in the Caribbean from Munich every Saturday in the 2016/17 winter flight schedule.
“We and our sister airline Thomas Cook Airlines UK have already been flying to Barbados from Frankfurt and Manchester for 20 years. A strong partnership has developed during this time that we are really proud of,” says Ralf Teckentrup, Chairman of the Board at Condor. “Barbados and Tobago are very popular destinations. For this reason, our British sister company also celebrated its maiden flight to Tobago this weekend.”
With the new connections from Munich, Condor’s current long-haul portfolio in the Bavarian capital is being expanded to 15 holiday destinations. “Condor is a strong partner of ours and we are really thrilled that the airline can now offer our guests here in South Germany two more destinations in the Caribbean,” says Dr. Michael Kerkloh, Chairman of the Board at Flughafen München GmbH.
Barbados is one of the Lesser Antilles islands. Caribbean flair meets British lifestyle here, which makes any visit an exceptional experience. The easternmost Caribbean island doesn’t just entice you with its long stretching, heavenly beaches, but also the Creole cuisine and the huge variety of sports on offer make the island one of the most popular Condor destinations.
Tobago is right at the top of tourists’ travel lists due to its diverse nature in particular. Besides relaxing days on stunning beaches or a tour through the Tobago Forest reserve, the island is also a real paradise for divers. An underwater world with coral reefs in magnificent colours invites you on breathtaking dives.
“It think it’s fantastic that Condor is starting the Munich-Barbados direct flight! As the Honorary Consul of Barbados in Germany, I am particularly delighted that countless tourists from South Germany are therefore being given the opportunity to reach this paradise island without any annoying changing flights. Bavaria is getting much closer to Barbados: a country that I represent with great pleasure and enthusiasm that has become like a second home to me and my family over the years,” says Regine Sixt, Honorary Consul General of Barbados in Germany.
The commitment in Munich is being expanded again in summer 2017 with the two US destinations, Las Vegas and Seattle. “The leisure airline has significantly expanded the Munich location over the last two years and is in the meantime connecting Munich to many destinations in the Caribbean, America, the Indian Ocean or attractive short and medium-haul destinations in Greece, the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands,” adds Kerkloh.
In cooperation with Caribbean Airlines, Condor also offers the possibility of travelling from the two islands Barbados and Tobago to Trinidad’s capital, Port of Spain.
