247 billion-yuan ($36 billion) railway plan has been approved by China’s top economic planner which will help to link Beijing to neighbouring cities. This initiative is a government effort to improve connectivity around the capital city of China.
According to the proposal, there will be nine lines connecting Beijing to the nearby port city of Tianjin and cities in northern Hebei province. It will also be connected to the new airport in the capital as the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement.
With this new plan, the transport connectivity between Beijing and the northern cities is expected to improve manifold. Planned for completion before 2020, the government is also aiming to build more train stations in towns and smaller cities which will eventually improve coordination among transit hubs to cut down travel time.
