During the 2016-2017 cruise season, Port Sultan Qaboos that is located in Muscat is scheduled to receive over 150 cruise liners, according to the shipping agents in the region of Oman.
Costa Romantica was the very first cruise ship that visited Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat. This cruise ship had arrived around 8 a.m. in the morning and left around 6 p.m. the very same day. This cruise ship was launched in the year 1993 and it is the second of the two Costa Cruises Classica class ships along with Costa neo Classica.
The ship was last refurbished in the year 2012.
Original works of art, Carrara marble and rare woods have been utilized to adorn the public rooms of the Costa Romantica cruise ship. This ship has been capable of luring several tourists from different European nations.
The officials of the cruise industry said that Oman is witnessing a great boost in cruise tourism.
They said that about 152 cruise ships would visit the Port Sultan Qaboos this season. Apart from this, they also stated that numerable cruise ships would call at Salalah and Khasab during this peak season.
One of the largest shipping agents in Oman named Khimji Ramdas Shipping LLC said that they would be taking care of at least 148 cruise calls in Oman that commence from September 2016 onwards and would continue till May 2017. An official from this company said that they would be handling about 102 calls in Salalah and 23 calls in Khasab.
The officials said that they have been witnessing a growth trend in Oman tourism.
They said that this is because Oman is a favorable place among tourists as they consider it a safe place. Alongside that, the beautiful locales of Oman that portray the Arab heritage and culture are exclusive to Oman.
Travel agents have went on to add that the booming cruise tourism sector has been responsible for the creation of a large number of employment opportunities for the national inhabitants of this region.
