Norway to restrict tourists from visiting outdoor tourist locales

One of the leading hiking groups of Norway known as Norsk Friluftsliv is making efforts to restrict the number of tourists who would be hiking to some of the most popular natural attractions of this region.

As a result of such a restriction, tourists might be barred from visiting some of the best viewing points and hiking destinations in Norway, including Trolltunga and Pulpit Rock. Lasse Heimdal, leader of Norsk Friluftsliv said that Norway boasts of a unique biodiversity. Therefore, Norway needs to ensure that nothing can adversely impact the natural resource base.

Heimdal said that the concerned authorities are obliged to come up with new safety measures in order to protect the natural resources of the country.

This is because the overwhelming number of tourists who turn up to view these tourist attractions might end up damaging nature thereby ruining its charm. Heimdal said that this problem is not only existent at Pulpit Rock but also in the different outdoor tourist destinations scattered across the nation.

The Norwegian Tourist Association has also proposed certain new laws in August that would go on to forbid tourists from visiting the very popular Pulpit Rock in Norway. This is the time of the year that witnesses the highest number of fatal incidents and rescue missions on account of the weather that is rally unpredictable here.
