Costa Rica is among the destinations most searched for by Americans, according to a Market Trends study by Google, one of the world’s most famous search engines and organizers of information.
The study measured searches for Central America and the Caribbean from Canada, the United States and Mexico, placing Costa Rica in a privileged position among other countries.
Costa Rica occupied the prestigious second position while the first place went to Mexico and Canada took the third place.
Tourism has become a key generator of the nation’s economic development. In 2015 tourism generated more than $2.8 billion dollars in foreign currency, a growth of almost 9% compared to 2014. It accounted for 29.6% of exports, 5.4% of gross domestic product and more than 2.6 million international arrivals through all ports (1.8 million registered arrivals by air).
