The Armenian government has planned to launch a series of tourism packages that would have the potential to positively impact the tourism industry of the country, based on latest developments in tourism.
Apart from this, the government of Armenia has also decided to carry out an active marketing policy in some of the key tourist markets in the country to spread awareness about Armenia as an attractive tourism destination, as reported in a government website. This is among the plans of the Cabinet that has been submitted to the National Assembly.
During the course of the next six months, the Armenian Government aims to improve the overall quality of tourism benchmarks by working on the various ki9nds of infrastructures and tourism services.
The government would make sure that pilot tourism projects are conducted in as many as 60 rural communities.
Thereafter, the results of one-year studies would be summed up. Following this process, a national program on developing rural tourism would be conducted by the government of this country.
Also, during these six months, a competition would be held in which at least five caves in the nation would be transformed into tourist facilities.
In addition, a strategy known as ‘Pilgrimage to the first Christian country’ would also be started.
Moreover, the government would also support private projects in the field of tourism that is believed to have immense potentials in the year 2017 and would include eco-tourism, extreme tourism, health tourism, wine tourism, religious tourism, rock-climbing and bicycling. Then, a development plan would be etched out with aim to triple the number of tourists visiting this country within the next five years.
The government also plans to expand the states and the number of people who would be eligible for visa free entry to Armenia.
