Located at the entrance and first floors of IKSV's new building in Istanbul, Salon has become a new stop at the crossroads of the city's hub of culture and arts. With an audience capacity of 150 seated and 400 standing, Salon hosts classical, jazz, rock, alternative and world music concerts, theatre and dance performances along with panels and conferences. The new season at Salon İKSV will kick start with one of the most exciting concerts of the year.
Battles will make us feel the energy of experimental rock on Saturday, 24 September and Sunday, 25 September. Battles released their debut album in 2006 through Warp Records, one of the best recording companies in the alternative and independent music scene, and since then, they became one of the most sensational alternative rock bands.
On Thursday, 29 September, Salon İKSV will be hosting Jehan Barbur, one of the most respected jazz vocals of Turkey’s jazz scene, bringing a breath of fresh air to jazz with her delicate voice and authentic interpretation. On Friday, 30 September, Salon İKSV will be hosting Mashrou L’eila, a project of a group of friends from Beirut. Their music sticks in our minds with their innovative, contemporary alternative Arabic tunes. After creating an enthusiastic crowd since their first concert in Beirut, Mashrou L’eila is preparing to give an exciting performance for their listeners in Istanbul.
Salon İKSV will keep its energy flowing with the concerts such as Local Natives, Californian indie rock band, Avishai Cohen, a master putting together the Western and the Middle Eastern musical textures in his solo work, The Veils, one of the best indie bands with the best tunes right out of their latest album, Total Depravity, Danish electro-pop musician Oh Land with her smooth vocals and amiable personality, The Comet Is Coming, an apocalyptic space-funk band with groovy rhythms, Finnish synth-pop artist Jaakko Eino Kalevi delivering a slice of disco, a pinch of electronic pop, a splash of melancholia and tons of 80’s sound and one of the most valuable pieces of Canada’s indie rock corpus The Dears.
