W Hotels Worldwide announced the expansion of its Florida portfolio with the opening of W Miami, formerly Viceroy Miami.
W Miami is located on Brickell Avenue at the epicenter of Miami’s bustling downtown area, and is poised to redefine the luxury lifestyle experiences at the core of this fabulous city. W Miami will join W South Beach in the greater Miami area.
W Miami is the centerpiece of the ten acre bayfront ICON BRICKELL mixed-use development known for its two-acre infinity pool and dramatic spa, with interiors designed by Kelly Wearstler. The hotel offers 148 guestrooms and suites, as well as 38 residential units that are serviced by the hotel. W Miami will undergo a renovation to create the W brand’s signature W Living Room on the hotel’s fifteenth floor overlooking Biscayne Bay. Additionally, the rooftop and its jaw dropping vistas from the fiftieth floor will be transformed into Downtown Miami’s most glamorous sky-high destination, with the brand’s stylish and energetic take on a cocktail lounge and WET deck.
Known as the ‘Manhattan of the South’, Brickell is one of Miami’s buzziest neighborhoods, balancing towering financial centers alongside luxury condos and shopping. Directly across the street from W Miami, Brickell City Centre will boast multiple upscale restaurant and retail options sure to delight locals and travelers alike.
“W Miami is a magnificent property which we are proud to add to our expanding US investment portfolio,” said H.E. Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company (ARTIC).
"It is our fifth investment in the US and our second in Miami, and its acquisition, which is fully in line with our targeted strategic approach, demonstrates the strides which ARTIC is successfully making in the global arena. We are excited to be working with Starwood Hotels & Resorts on this project in Downtown Miami. With the brand’s proven success in this market and exceptional reputation as a lifestyle innovator, W Hotels will bring new energy to the area for residents and travellers alike.”
Following the success of W South Beach and W Fort Lauderdale, W Miami marks the third W in Florida, bringing Starwood’s iconic category disruptor closer to reaching 75 hotels by 2020
