A group of top Australian travel agents has been taking part in a fact-finding visit of Northern Ireland. Invited here by Tourism Ireland in Sydney and Etihad Airways, the travel agents’ itinerary was designed by Tourism NI.
The travel agents were here to experience at first-hand what Northern Ireland has to offer Australian holidaymakers. The aim was to educate and enthuse them about Northern Ireland – so they are better equipped to sell the destination to their clients when they return home. The visit was also a wonderful opportunity to remind the travel agents about the excellent connectivity between Australia and the island of Ireland – with Etihad Airways via Abu Dhabi.
The travel agents’ packed programme included a visit to Titanic Belfast and a drive along the Causeway Coastal route, with stops at The Gobbins Cliff Path and the Giant’s Causeway. The group also enjoyed a Game of Thrones-themed visit to Castle Ward.
Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Australia and New Zealand said; “We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland to this group of Australian travel agents. Working with key partners like Etihad, as well as with the travel trade in Australia, is an important part of Tourism Ireland’s annual promotional activity, to boost travel to Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland in 2016.”
