The first luxury sleeper train service in South America will commence from 2017. The train services will be operated by Belmond, the same company which is the driving force behind the Venice Simplon Orient-Express, the Belmont Royal Scotsman, forthcoming Belmond Grand Hibernian train services in Ireland, and the Belmond Andean Explorer in Peru.
The luxury sleeper train will be rolling thought one of the highest rail routes on earth. The travellers will be able to admire the scenic view of Arequipa, Lake Titicaca and Cusco; while sipping hot coco, lying in a bed inside their suite.
One single train will be able to accommodate up to 68 passengers in en-suit cabins, two double cabins, 20 twin cabins, and 12 bunk-bed cabins for two. The guest will get the access to two dining cars, one lounge car and one observation car with an open-air deck. Guests will also be able to devour cuisines, featuring local ingredients; and the menu will be formulated by chefs of Belmond Hotel Monasterio, situated in Cusco. The interior of the train is designed with hand-crafted fabrics of Peru, in order to offer a purposefully Latin American aesthetic.
Tourists will be able to pick from four different tour options. One can pick from three-day package named “Peruvian Highlands”, one-night trip named “Spirit of the Andes”, a trip from Cusco to Puno, to the city of Arequipa etc.
The Belmond Andean Explorer will launch in May, 2017. The tariff would start from $462 per person for a night. The cost will include all meals, open bar facilities and scheduled excursions.
The only motive of the train is to give the guest a lifetime experience of relaxation and luxury, combined with a five-star train journey.
