WASHINGTON—Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Foxhall Partners have opened the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel—the brand’s 10th hotel here.
Perched above a tree-lined neighborhood on the border of Glover Archbold Park north of Georgetown, the hotel is the result of a collaboration between Kimpton, DC-based developer Foxhall Partners and Iron Point Partners as the group’s second design-driven boutique hotel in Northwest Washington, following the introduction of The Carlyle Dupont Circle last year.
The hotel’s connection to nature, an inspiration taken from the neighborhood’s namesake—Charles Carroll Glover—who helped shape the city’s most iconic parks, is reflected throughout by artist Michele Oka Doner’s vision, blending a metropolitan edge with familial comfort and tranquility, according to the company.
Design pieces include a custom map of Rock Creek Park on the property’s eight-story facade, original mixed-media artwork, handmade light fixtures by the artist herself and a variety of natural textiles throughout the communal spaces.
Guestrooms feature a green and white botanical color scheme punctuated with wood finishes and playful accents. In addition, 25 of the 154 premier guestrooms offer unobstructed views of the National Mall and Potomac River. There are 21 fully equipped kitchenette rooms; each include a small refrigerator, Keurig coffeemaker, microwave, dishes, glassware and utensils. The rooms have memory-foam beds, Doner’s custom artwork and modern work desks.
Inside the hotel will be Casolare, a new restaurant helmed by Chef Michael Schlow who operates the Riggsby restaurant in The Carlyle Dupont Circle. The 156-seat restaurant will open in July and offer coastal Italian fare with food from the regions of Amalfi, Sardinia, Puglia, Cinque Terre and Livorno including antipasti, wood stone-fired pizzas and a wide selection of seafood. Room service will be available. Casolare will be Schlow’s fourth restaurant here and second collaboration with Foxhall.
The hotel will offer over 2,800 sq. ft. of meeting space including the Walnut Room, a 1,860-sq.-ft. ballroom for up to 200 guests. There is also the 1,000-sq.-ft. restored Tunlaw Terrace, an open-air space for events of up to 150 guests. Casolare will provide catering for all events and meeting at the hotel.
Foxhall partnered with Graham King’s Urban Athletic Club to create a signature fitness experience, encompassing over 2,000 sq. ft.
Other amenities include a complimentary shuttle to and from the Woodley Park Metro Station and Smithsonian National Zoo. Other amenities include minibars with local and organic options, complimentary WiFi for Kimpton Karma Rewards members, complimentary morning coffee and tea service in the hotel’s living room and a hosted nightly wine hour.
In addition, the hotel will offer wellness options, such as complimentary custom bike rentals; complimentary 24-hour access to the Urban Athletic Club; and an in-room on-demand yoga channel, along with recycled mats in every room
