Austrian Airlines Launches a Wet Lease Agreement with SunExpress Deutschland

Austrian Airlines is launching a wet lease agreement with SunExpress Deutschland. The objective of this cooperation is to cover peak capacity requirements, above all in the particularly dense summer flight schedule. A Boeing 737-800 aircraft along with the cockpit and cabin crew of SunExpress Deutschland will be deployed in the European route network of Austrian Airlines starting on June 1 until the end of December 2016. Passengers on these flights will enjoy the typical service provided by DO & CO. The planned destinations for flights originating in the Austrian Airlines hub of Vienna are Amsterdam, Berlin, Bucharest and Copenhagen. Austrian Airlines previously concluded two other wet lease agreements in 2016: Adria Airways in cooperation with Nordica as well as Condor have been operating flights within the Austrian flag carrier’s route network since May 1 respectively May 15.

SunExpress Deutschland GmbH has been certified according to the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). The airline based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany belongs to the Turkish airline SunExpress, which was founded as a joint venture company between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa in October 1989. SunExpress is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and carries more than eight million passengers each year.
