Marriott hotel chain makes headway to widen its own footprint in Uganda by expanding its Protea brand. Marriott reportedly plans to add another Protea the hotel scene in Uganda by mid-year.
The global hotel giant is already operating two hotels in the country, one just outside the airport perimeter in Entebbe directly at a beach of Lake Victoria and one in the fashionable Kololo suburb of the capital Kampala.
Located at the Naguru suburb of the city, the Protea Hotel Naguru Skyz will offer guests 141 rooms, a fully fledged spa and gym and reportedly a rooftop terrace bar which will give patrons sweeping views across Kampala.
This new hotel is due to open by July this year while a second Naguru based property has broken ground and is due to open in early 2018 as the Protea Hotel Naguru Pinnacle.
Principal owner of Protea Hotels Uganda is entrepreneur Patrick Bitature while the company is managed by Stuart Cook, who has been Managing Director of Protea Hotels Uganda since the 2007 opening of the company’s first property, reports eturbonews.com
