The Convention Industry Council welcomes new Board


ALEXANDRIA, VA - A confluence of meeting professionals, executives, and thought leaders gathered in Baltimore, MD for the Convention Industry Council (CIC) Annual Meeting of Members on November 9-10, 2015. At the meeting, a new slate for the CIC Board of Directors was voted on and approved, ushering in a new leadership perspective for the trade association.

David DuBois, CMP, CAE, CTA, FASAE of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events finalized his term as CIC Board Chair and passed the torch on to Bonnie Fedchock, CAE of the National Association for Catering & Events.

As CIC prepares to embark on a new era of leadership, DuBois shared his thoughts on CIC’s progress as an organization and its vision for future endeavors: “I think it’s vital that the organization continue's to facilitate the exchange of insights and incubate ideas for new CIC initiatives and programs. We made some major strides this year to that end, and I am confident that the new board will continue to build and expand upon those successes,” said DuBois.

“The Convention Industry Council continues to be a leader and driving force for the growth and enhancement of the global meetings industry. The exceptional programs at CIC focus on research and education and provide standard setting training and certification. In the coming year, we will look to increase community engagement, as we continue to serve the many stakeholders that make up the important and diverse membership of our Council.”

In addition to growing its global membership, CIC plans to continue its work towards advocating for the economic and social value of the meetings industry through its participation in the Meetings Mean Business Coalition and activating its own advocates who participate in the Meetings Industry Advocacy Hub to support coalition efforts.
