Ukraine is banning flights by Russian airlines from October 25 as part of a wave of sanctions against Russia. Aeroflot and Transaero are among the sanctioned airlines that will be banned from entering Ukraine. “Russian planes with the Russian tricolor [flags] have no place in Ukrainian airports,” Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said Friday.
In response, Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov said on Friday that the move compels Moscow to take counter measures against Ukraine’s decision, Interfax reported.
The Ukrainian PM has no right to ban Russia’s airlines from entering the country it is the prerogative of aviation authorities to take such decisions, said Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
The Ukrainian government statement also forbade Ukrainian state companies from using Russian software, particularly from the Russian anti-virus giant Kaspersky Lab.
Ukrainian state organizations were banned from using goods or services produced by sanctioned Russian companies.
The government has urged all the sanctions to be implemented immediately.
