The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 14.8 million passengers in April, up 3.8%, or 544,000 additional passengers, from the previous year.
Traffic (RPK) grew 4.7% and capacity (ASK) increased 4.6%, bringing up the load factor to 78.1%, 0.1 percentage points higher versus April 2014.
Year-to-date, the number of passengers carried increased 5.9% when compared to January-April 2014, reaching 61.9 million passengers, or 3.5 million more passengers than January-April 2014. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 6.2%, capacity (ASK) increased 5.5%, and the passenger load factor reached 79.4%, 0.6 percentage points higher than the previous year.
Freight ton kilometers declined 5.5% in April 2015 versus April 2014 and 7.4% year to date.
