A tender for installing a new series of signboards as per international standards for tourists visiting Oman, is expected to be awarded in the first half of this year, an official at the Ministry of Tourism said.
“We have already started fixing some signboards in different areas and different governorates, and now we are in the process of (floating) an international tender for international companies to come up with new signboards with international standards,” Salem Al Mamari, director general of tourism promotion at the ministry, told the Times of Oman.
These signboards, which will make visiting Oman a more pleasant experience for visitors, will display information about directions and locations and some do’s and don’ts, he said.
“I hope the tender will be awarded in the first half of this year,” said Al Mamari.
Tourists visiting Oman have repeatedly pointed out certain drawbacks which they say need to be improved to make the Sultanate a more tourist-friendly destination.
