The ministry has set a bill aimed at improving the legislative framework in the tourism sphere. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said, the hotels and hotel-like facilities in Azerbaijan have increased from 288 to 527, along with the total number of their beds changing from 24,706 to 34,731.
The ministry also said the bill clear the way for future development of Azerbaijan’s tourism potential, a proper use of tourism-related business processes, and an increase in state regulation of tourism activities and support to the tourism industry.
“The new bill on tourism which includes proposals and recommendations of experts of the Twinning project of the World Tourism Organization and the European Union envisions a number of important institutional, regulatory innovations as well as advanced experiences to manage modern tourism industry in a more efficient way,” the ministry said.
According to the statement “Defining main development directions in Azerbaijan’s tourism industry for the coming 10 years, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has prepared one more essential document – the Tourism Development Strategy for 2015-2024.”
