GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA—Marriott International plans to open the first Courtyard by Marriott brand hotel here. The hotel project was signed with Grupo Azur, a family owned company that invests in real estate, hospitality and restaurants.
The 147-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, scheduled to open in 2016, will be located in the middle of Guatemala City’s Zona 10, also known as Zona Viva, an area known for leisure and business travel.
“The Courtyard by Marriott brand was a perfect fit for this hotel and, combined with Marriott’s backbone and sales engine, we are confident that the hotel will be highly successful and play a large role in the continued emergence of city of Guatemala City,” said Manuel Arzu of Grupo Azur, the leading architect behind the design of the hotel.
