Int. Meeting planners: Meetovation is the wave of the future

Meetovation is the wave of the future!’ – such were the words of Michael Salberg, President of Flashcom Group, US who participated on the latest MINDFamtrip in Copenhagen which was based on the successful Danish meeting design concept called ‘Meetovation’.

21 meeting planners from the US, UK and Germany joined Wonderful Copenhagen CVB and VisitDenmark on a MINDFamtrip to Copenhagen on 18-19 August to learn more about the city’s many-sided possibilities as a meetings destination and the elements of the Danish meetings design concept ‘Meetovation’. The planners were impressed with both the city and the strategic and very ‘hans on’ Meetovation concept. Michael Salberg of Falshcom Group in the US, said:

- Let’s face it, people who attend meetings have probably attended 50 meetings in their lifetime already, and they can be boring and too staged. Meetovation, however, gives the opportunity to boost the energy levels in a group and encourage more active involvement by the participants. Salberg continued:

- I am not only impressed by the facilities here (edit: in Copenhagen) – the people are terrific too! There is a great history in this town, which creates a great atmosphere for meetings, and the local cuisine is superb.

MIND Famtrips in Copenhagen are designed based on to Meetovation’s four cornerstones: ‘active involvement’, ‘creative setups’, ‘local inspiration’ and ‘responsible thinking’ – all of which help increase the return of a meeting investment.

‘We will bring business to Copenhagen’
- I have seen sustainability in action in some of the venues and site visits in this famtrip. The Bella Center Copenhagen and The Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Tower are two great examples of how they utilize sustainability as part of their environment and their work in practice. And to see it ‘in action’ is great and means that we will consider using those venues in some of our future meetings, says Azahar Hussain, Director of Fingerprint Events, UK.

During the closing session of the MINDFamtrip at the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel, the participants completed a post evaluation survey. The survey revealed that after having experienced the destination and the Meetovation concept ‘in action’, 90 % of the participants would place future business in Copenhagen within the next 24 months.

In Addition to the above venues, the foreign meeting planners also met with and experienced the Scandic Hotels, Strömma, Arp-Hansen Hotel Group, and Your Best Destination Partner – BDP.

MINDblowing Meetings
The MINDfamtrip is one of many elements of the innovative MINDblowing Meetings campaign created by VisitDenmark and Wonderful Copenhagen CVB in close collaboration with local partners in the Copenhagen meetings industry.

This year, the MINDblowing Meetings campaign consists of a number of MINDFamtrips to Copenhagen for meeting planners (edit: the next MINDfamtrip in 2014 is scheduled for 15-16 September), so-called MINDtalks in the UK, US, Norway, Sweden and Germany (edit: this next MINDtalk is staged in London on 16 September) – as well as our large networking and famtrip event in Copenhagen – MINDevent 2014 – staged on 1-3 December and gathering meeting planners and journalists from around the world.
