British travellers voted their Favourite Overseas City at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Awards on 1st September 2014.
New York City named as their favourite overseas city once again.
New York City was praised by Condé Nast Traveller readers for its nightlife and places to stay - and with a host of new luxury and boutique hotels opening across the five boroughs this year, British travellers have a constantly evolving choice to draw them back to the destination time and again. Brits make over a million visits to New York City each year, meaning more than a quarter of people travelling to the United States are visiting New York City; and the UK is the number one source of overseas visitation into the city.
It is not just the readers of Condé Nast Traveller who rank New York City as their number one overseas city destination. This is the latest in a trio of wins for the city in prestigious UK media awards, following top place finishes in The Daily Telegraph / UltraTravel ULTRAs Awards and The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Travel Magazine Travel Awards. All of these awards were based on public votes.
