Estonian Air to allow the use of portable electronic devices (PED) during all phases of the flight

From now on, Estonian Air allows the use of portable electronic devices (PED) during all phases of the flight, if set in “flight mode” or equivalent profile – Wireless and Bluetooth functions disabled.

Mobile phones and other transmitting PED/s may be switched on until aircraft doors closing. From this moment on, PED/s are permitted if set in flight mode or equivalent profile;

Portable electronic devices include smartphones, tablets, e-readers, camera’s and small handheld game consoles. "This provides more convenience for customers spending time on board of our flights, as use was currently prohibited during take-off and landing,“ said Indrek Randveer, the CCO of Estonian Air. "This is a first step in a larger concept to make flying with us more fun," added Randveer.

During take-off and landing, laptops and heavier PED/s (e.g.: DVD readers) must be properly secured in overhead bins. When placed on overhead bins or if requested by the crew, PED/s must be switched off. In order to avoid distraction during safety briefing and crew instructions, the use of headphone by passengers is prohibited during taxi, take-off and landing.

Estonian Air is aiming to provide Estonia with reliable and regular double daily connections to destinations of strategic importance and of substantial demand.
