China Southern Airlines, which carried 91,500,000 passengers last year, was ranked third in IATA’s New Ranking in 2013 (last years was fifth).
Its fleet amount (558) and freight ton (1,170,000 tonnes) were ranked fifth and eighth. Si Xianmin, who’s the Chairman of China Southern jointed in the meeting as the director of IATA.
China Southern Airlines operates the largest fleet, most developed route network and largest passenger capacity of any airline in China. By December, 2013, China Southern Airlines have kept a safe record of 11 million flying hours and carried close to 700 million passengers without incident. The airline's safety commitment has - and continues to be - unwavering both throughout China and globally. In these years, China Southern speeded up the process of strategy transformation and launched new routes from Guangzhou to Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Brisbane, Perth etc. in Oceania, making Guangzhou the biggest gateway from China to Oceania. Also, it launched new service from Guangzhou to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Moscow etc, building the Canton Route which connects Europe and Oceania.
In this year, China Southern will launch new service from Guangzhou to New York and from Guangzhou to Frankfurt via Changsha, at that time, the number of international airline routes of China Southern will be more than 90 and cover any continent except South America. China Southern Airlines is also the first airline in the world to operate both A380 and 787.
