Revered by many as an acclaimed beach-front “playground,” Pacifica, California is home to the new Devil’s Slide Coastal Trail.
The Devil’s Slide Trail Project involves the conversion of the segment of Highway 1 south of the City of Pacifica, which was closed after the opening of the Devil’s Slide Bypass Tunnels, into a public multi-use non-motorized trail. The project includes roadway surfacing, signage, accessibility improvements, habitat protection, and overlooks. The 90% project plans include revisions based on public comments and staff review.
Additionally, the San Mateo County Parks Department is expecting to install 10 interpretive panels for the new Devil’s Slide section of the California Coastal Trail. The panels will interpret the geology, history and natural features found at the site. Due to limited vehicle access, Pacifica's free weekend shuttle will include Devil’s Slide access at the north end to pick up and drop off visitors to the trail.
