Maiden flight from Munich to Mexico takes off on schedule

Yesterday evening the first Lufthansa flight from Munich to Mexico City took off on schedule. The Airbus A340-600 with flight number LH 520 left Munich Airport punctually at 10.25 p.m. “We were able to carry out this maiden flight as planned, despite the strike by the Vereinigung Cockpit pilots’ union. Mexico is becoming increasingly important for the German market from an economic perspective,” said Thomas Klühr, Member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board, Finances & Munich Hub.

Mexico City has over 23 million inhabitants and is one of the biggest metropolitan regions in the world. The city is the political, economic, social and cultural capital of the country and its biggest transport hub. Its important museums and monuments also make Mexico City an attractive destination for leisure travellers. The city has a wealth of culture on offer, including a world-famous theatre scene. In future, Mexico City will be on the Munich flight plan five times a week, in addition to the daily flight from Frankfurt. The new connection is served by an Airbus A340-600 with up to 326 seats.
