Paris was the top tourist destination in 2013 according to the regional tourism body. The romance of France cannot be compared to any country of the world. Paris saw the highest level of tourist visitation in 10 years last year.
The nearly 15.5 million foreign visitors to the French capital represented an 8.2 percent increase from 2012. The largest number (2.1 million) came across the Channel from Britain, followed by the Americans, Germans, Italians and Chinese.
Here again the Chinese topped the list of tourists from Asia with 881,000 flocking to Paris, surpassing the Japanese. A 21-percent increase in visitors from the Middle East was seen according to the Ile-de-France Regional Tourism Committee.
The French themselves however were least enthusiastic about visiting their famous capital. There was a 7.5 per cent drop from 2012 of French local tourist visiting Paris.
