Hotel SP34, a new boutique hotel which is part of the hotel chain Brøchner Hotels, has been chosen as the host hotel for the international networking event Sleepover. Already before Brøchner Hotels’ Hotel SP34 officially opens in early April 2014, it has achieved international attention which is one of the reasons why the new Sleepover-event is staged in Copenhagen.
On April 27, 100 of the world’s leading architects and designers of restaurants and hotels will gather at Hotel SP34 as the venue this year’s Sleepover, a networking event arranged by the international hotel magazine ‘Sleeper Magazine’.
Sleepover is an event where hotel architects and designers annually visit a new city in order to gain inspiration for their work and spend a night at a new, exciting hotel. Previously the Sleepover-event has been held in Berlin and Amsterdam, but this year Copenhagen was chosen because of its leading position in architecture, design and gastronomy. In their reasoning for choosing Hotel SP34 as host hotel, Sleeper Magazine emphasizes the original beauty in the hotel built in three classic houses in Copenhagen’s Latin Quarter. Furthermore, they mention the hotel’s use of furniture by famous Danish architects and its touch of modern, understated luxury.
The event at Hotel SP34 was a result of a meeting in Copenhagen between Matt Turner, the editor in-chief of Sleeper Magazine, and Karim Nielsen, CEO of Brøchner Hotels.
- And I’m happy that a boutique hotel like Hotel SP34 can help promote Copenhagen as an event city. Certainly it is small event in size but the participators sets an international agenda when it comes to design and development of hotels and restaurants – and their visit will help to maintain Copenhagen’s reputation as a pioneer in that area, says Karim Nielsen.
He further informs that in connection with the event, Brøchner Hotels will, among many other things, present a chair from 1958 that has not previously been commercially produced designed by the famous Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner.
The participators of the Sleepover-event will e.g. be offered a visit to Nordic Food Lab, a trip around Kødbyen (Copenhagen’s Meat Packing District) and Torvehallerne (Market Halls) and a boat tour arranged by Wonderful Copenhagen. A dinner at Generator Hostel and the workshop ‘Tomorrow’s Hotel’
