From 20 to 22 September 2013, the City of Athens will host, in the premises of “Technopolis”, the 4th Athens Bike Festival and, in partnership with TMA Travel Media Applications (Cyprus) Ltd, will create a 'neighborhood' with tourism enterprises and destinations suitable for biking holidays. Cycling tourism - the fastest growing sector of alternative tourism in Europe – it’s an important opportunity for tourism businesses to differentiate their product as it offers potential for growth, to a market segment that is distinguished by its high socioeconomic profile.

According to a survey conducted by the European Parliament in 2012, it is estimated that each year in Europe more than 20.3 million trips of cycling tourism take place with estimated revenue of $ 8.94 billion, including accommodation.

Concerning Greece, cycling tourism is a new tourism form with more and more Greeks dealing with it. The new life style in Europe and Greece encourages new forms of tourism like cycling tourism, while many Greek families are very familiar with cycling and eager to combine their holidays with their hobby.
