Spirit Airlines launches service from DFW International Airport to Cancun, Mexico

DFW AIRPORT, TEXAS - Spirit Airlines launches daily nonstop service from DFW to Cancun, Mexico, marking the carrier's second destination from DFW into the popular Mexican market. Spirit also begins daily nonstop service to Los Angeles (LAX) and Oakland (OAK), meaning Spirit now serves a total of 24 nonstop destinations from DFW.
"The new Spirit Airlines flight to Cancun gives passengers another great option to fly into one of our most popular international tourist spots, just in time for the busy summer travel season," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW Airport. "We continue to be very pleased and encouraged by the growth of Spirit Airlines at DFW with new flights into Los Angeles and Oakland, and we are looking forward to providing Spirit Airlines passengers with outstanding DFW Airport customer service that is highly regarded around the world."
"What's not to love about saving money on travel to a variety of key new routes from DFW?" said Spirit Airlines Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle. "Customers from throughout the Metroplex are continuing to respond favorably to Spirit's ultra low fares and options that offer a total price that's tough to beat and we're committed to continue giving our customers the value and savings they've come to know and love."
Spirit has also resumed its scheduled seasonal service from DFW to Boston, Fort Myers, Myrtle Beach, and Portland, Oregon.  In June, the carrier will launch new nonstop service from DFW to the Latrobe/Pittsburgh area and Los Cabos, Mexico.
Spirit launched its operations at DFW in May of 2011 with service to two cities, Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas, and has rapidly expanded its operation at DFW since then.
With the new flights from Spirit, DFW Airport continues its string of developing new air service for the citizens of Dallas/Fort Worth. In just over the past two years, DFW has seen an unprecedented expansion of service with the addition of seven new passenger airlines, thirteen new international destinations and thirteen new domestic destinations.
