Tony Tyler, the Director General and CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), gave an address at the Air Transport Action Group Environment Workshop in Montreal.
His comments focused on:
- The challenging carbon-reduction goals that the aviation industry has pledged to achieve
- The critical need for governments to come to an agreement on market-based-measures (MBMs) through the ICAO process
- The Industry’s efforts to support government progress on MBMs by agreeing on how to share the burden of carbon-neutral growth from 2020
- The
need for partnership between industry and government on the delivery
of airspace reform and sustainable biofuel production
