The
UK luxury
travel market is
preparing to receive a growing number of the predicted 19 million
Japanese that willtravel
overseas in 2013.
According
to the Japan
Tourism Board, a strong yen,
lower airfares and
rising interest in bespoke UK experiences is predicted to attract
increasing numbers of the 1.7 million high-net worth individuals (the
second largest population after the United States) who live in Japan.
Responding to industry demand, International Luxury Travel
Market (ILTM) Japan, Kyoto, 11 – 13 March 2013 has been
created as a platform for international luxury
travel brands to do business with high end
Japanese travel
agents and tour
operators who are looking to create bespoke
leisure time for their clients. Early exhibiting companies include
Ritz Carlton, Nira Hotels and Resorts and Silversea Cruises.
Alison
Gilmore, Exhibition Director, ILTM commented, “Last year’s
Olympics, the Golden Jubilee and even footballer Shinji Kagawa’s
transfer to Manchester United have shifted high end Japanese
perceptions of the UK experience. The UK saw a 6% increase in
arrivals from Japan in 2012 and ILTM Japan will facilitate many
more business
opportunities for UK elite brands and
experiences.”
ILTM
Japan is a niche event where 60 high end luxury travel agents,
planners and tour operators will meet with a similar number
of both international and authentic Japanese travel experiences. Each
of the buyers and suppliers invited to attend ILTM Japan must be
accredited for participation at this specialist event, as
pre-scheduled appointments will be arranged on a strictly one-to-one
ratio.
