The
Clearwater Regional Chamber celebrates, along with all of its
partners, the top honors awarded to Clearwater Beach by the USA
Today contest for Best
Beach Town in Florida for 2013.
The
results of this online
competition were announced on January 25 in
the USA Todaynewspaper and at Florida Huddle. Coastal expert,
Dr. Stephen Leatherman also known as Dr. Beach, a professor from
Florida International University, submitted the ten Florida beaches
that were competing. Of the 30,000 votes, more than 25% selected
Clearwater. As the winner, Clearwater Beach will be featured in a
February 15th travel story in the USA Today.
"Clearwater
has always had the best beach in Florida, and
this designation will
enable us to market not only Clearwater but all of the Pinellas
County to boost tourism,"
said Mayor George N. Cretekos on receiving the news of the award. Bob
Clifford, President/CEO of Clearwater Regional Chamber exclaimed
"Tourism is our Number 1 business and we continue to offer
a product and service that is second to none. We want our visitors to
enjoy their stay in Clearwater and tell others."
