Call
for entries by 31 January 2013 - from editors, journalists, cruise
lines and cruise partners
[New
categories have been added to the prestigious Passenger
Shipping Association Cruise Journalism Awards which
will take to the stage on 5 March 2013. Following the success of the
inaugural event this year, the Passenger Shipping Association,
representing 42 river and ocean cruise lines, will be celebrating the
very best in cruise journalism and acknowledging the media who
support the innovative and every growing cruise industry. For the
first time, the awards will be supported by a new sponsor, The Port
Authority of Jamaica.
The
2013 awards will feature two new categories to celebrate the rich and
varied contribution made by the media in promoting cruise holidays.
Ten categories have been selected to demonstrate the variety of
cruise reportage whilst the award of Cruise Jamaica Contribution to
Cruise Journalism will be presented in recognition of an individual’s
ongoing promotion of cruise holidays over a period of time.
The
PSA Cruise Journalism Awards 2013 categories are:
- NEW category - Best first time cruise feature
- NEW category - Best ‘off the beaten track’ cruise feature
- Best national newspaper cruise feature
- Best regional newspaper cruise feature
- Best cruise lifestyle feature
- Best river cruise feature
- Best cruise broadcast feature
- Best online cruise feature
- Best cruise blog feature
- Best cruise industry/trade feature
Cruise
Jamaica Contribution to cruise journalism
The
awards will be presented in conjunction with the PSA Cruise
Review which reveals the latest industry trends and statistics –
from the numbers of people cruising from the UK to favourite
destinations. Senior cruise line representatives and media
contemporaries will attend to raise a glass to the winners and
celebrate an industry that continues to grow.
William
Gibbons, PSA director said: “We are delighted to be hosting the
awards with the kind support of Cruise Jamaica, The Port Authority of
Jamaica. 2012 has been a challenging year but the UK cruise
industry has remained resilient with continued growth predicted
for 2013. We will also see more than $12 billion of long
term new ship investment planned for 2013-15. We want to take
the opportunity to recognise the media contribution in showcasing the
diverse world of cruising to the UK consumer, together with their
ongoing support which has helped fuel the demand for cruising.”
Entries
for the awards will be welcomed from editors and journalists, as well
as cruise line representative and industry partners. Entries must
have been published between 1 January and 31 December 2012 and
encourage cruise travel by sea or river.
