Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt opens redesigned spa at Lake Tegernsee

NEW YORK – Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, located on the shores of Lake Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alps south of Munich, has opened a fully redesigned spa featuring a new concept centred on architecture, nature and holistic wellbeing.

The 4 elements spa by Althoff concept was developed by Elke Diefenbach-Althoff, co-founder of Althoff  Hotels, and is structured around four experiences: Water, Warmth, Silence and Movement.

At the centre of the spa is the new “Water World”, which includes a 92-foot indoor pool, a hot tub, a heated outdoor pool and direct access to Lake Tegernsee through a private bathing area and sunbathing lawn.

The “Warmth World” features a Finnish sauna with experiential infusions, a bio-clay sauna, herbal sauna and steam bath. The new Silence Lounge provides a dedicated relaxation area, while the “Movement” space includes a newly equipped fitness area with training facilities.

The spa’s 410-square-foot Ritual Rooms offer massages, beauty treatments and holistic experiences tailored to individual requirements. The new Core Room provides Reformer Pilates, Pilates, yoga, activities that change daily and personal training.

Additional facilities include a Concept Store offering selected beauty and lifestyle products and a Bistro serving healthy, seasonal dishes. From autumn 2026, a new Kids Club is scheduled to provide daily childcare from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., allowing parents to use the spa facilities during those hours.

Vincent Ludwig, Managing Director of Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, said: “With the new 4 elements spa by Althoff, we wanted to make the unique energy of Lake Tegernsee directly tangible. Water, mountains, movement and stillness are inseparably connected here. Our guests can shape their spa day entirely according to their individual preferences – from swimming in the lake or one of the pools to Reformer Pilates and sauna rituals, soothing treatments and mindful moments of relaxation.”

Lake Tegernsee forms part of the spa experience, with guests able to swim in the lake, walk along the shoreline in the early morning or participate in Nordic walking with views of the surrounding mountains.

The hotel also plans to introduce additional movement and swimming programmes using Lake Tegernsee for training and outdoor activities.
