The new route commenced operations with twice-weekly flights operating on Mondays and Fridays. Air Serbia is deploying Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft on the service.
The launch forms part of the airline’s broader strategy to strengthen
connectivity between Serbia and Spain while responding to growing demand for
Mediterranean leisure destinations.
Expanding connectivity
in Spain
Boško Rupić, General Manager Commercial
and Strategy at Air Serbia, said: “By introducing direct flights between
Belgrade and Alicante, we are continuing the strategic expansion of our
destination network in Spain and further enhancing connectivity with one of the
most attractive Mediterranean markets.
“Alicante is a destination that will appeal to travellers from Serbia and
the wider region, as it offers much more than a traditional beach holiday –
from the renowned Costa Blanca coastline and Mediterranean lifestyle, to its
rich history, authentic gastronomy, and a wide range of attractions catering to
a variety of traveller needs.”
With the addition of Alicante, Air Serbia now operates direct flights from
Belgrade to six destinations in Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga, Palma de
Mallorca, Valencia and Alicante.
Further growth
planned
The airline has also confirmed additional expansion plans for the Spanish
market. Starting in September, Air Serbia plans to launch new services to
Tenerife and Seville, further expanding travel options between the two countries.
The new routes will strengthen the carrier’s position in Spain, one of
Europe’s most popular leisure and tourism destinations.
Alicante and the
Costa Blanca
Located on Spain’s south-eastern Mediterranean coast, Alicante is known for
its year-round mild climate, extensive beaches and strong tourism appeal. The
city serves as a gateway to the Costa Blanca region, home to well-known
destinations including Benidorm, Altea and Elche.
The route launch comes ahead of the peak summer travel season, when demand
for Mediterranean destinations traditionally increases. By adding Alicante to
its network, Air Serbia is expanding its portfolio of leisure destinations
while providing passengers with more direct access to Spain’s coastal tourism
regions.
